Breaking News: Cahill Out of Euro 2012

The news has gotten worse for England.

Center back Gary Cahill is out of Euro 2012 with a jaw fracture. He was pushed into England goalkeeper Joe Hart by Belgium’s Dries Mertens in Saturday’s friendly.

Martin Kelly has been called up to replace Cahill, pending UEFA approval. Kelly was not a stand by list.

John Terry’s injury isn’t as bad as feared so he should be fit to start with Joleon Lescott against France.

Breaking News: Frank Lampard Out of Euro 2012

England midfielder Frank Lampard will miss Euro 2012 with a thigh injury.

The news comes days after Gareth Barry was ruled out of the tournament. This is a tough break for England, as Lampard was expected to start with Scott Parker in the center of  the midfield.

Midfielder Jordan Henderson will fill in for Lampard. He is one of five Liverpool players on England’s roster, which is the most of any club team playing for the Three Lions this summer.

Injury News: Gareth Barry Out of Euro 2012

England midfielder Gareth Barry will miss Euro 2012 after suffering an abdominal injury in England’s friendly against Norway on Saturday.

Defender Phil Jagielka will take his place on the roster.

With Barry out, this means that Scott Parker and Frank Lampard will likely start in the defensive midfield positions in England’s 4-2-3-1 formation.

Jagielka was one of the stand-by reserves, but started on Saturday with the Chelsea players absent. England manager Roy Hodgson picked the defender over stand-by midfielders Jordan Henderson and Adam Johnson.

Breaking News: Villa Out for Euro 2012

Spanish striker David Villa has been ruled out for Euro 2012, according to ESPN.

Villa broke his shinebone while playing for Barcelona at the FIFA Club World Cup in December. Villa has scored 51 goals in 82 appearances for his national team.

Spain can’t be surprised that Villa will miss the tournament. His absence will raise questions on Spain’s formation and who will start at forward. Spain plays two friendlies on May 26 and 30 against Serbia and South Korea respectively. The forwards on the roster for the matches are Adrian, Fernando Torres, Alvaro Negredo and Roberto Soldado. Players from Barcelona and Atletic Bilbao are not on this roster because they will be part on the Copa del Rey final on Friday. Fernando Llorente and Pedro are the ineligible forwards that will be in contention for Spain’s final Euro 2012 roster.
