Group A Wide Open

Czech Republic responded from their 4-1 loss to Russia with two goals in the first six minutes against Greece. That is all that was needed as Greece could only peg one goal back early in the second half.

Poland fought back to earn a 1-1 draw against Russia. However, the news off the field is discouraging as Polish and Russian fans clashed before the match in Warsaw.

The results means that the last group matches of Group A will be vital. The easy scenarios are whoever wins makes it to the quarterfinals. Even Greece on one point will make it to the quarterfinals if they can get three points over Russia.

That match will be watched carefully, but the game of the day will be Poland changing venues and playing Czech Republic in Wroclaw. Winner moves on and if the match ends in a draw then the host are eliminated. A tie could do Czech Republic good, as long as Greece doesn’t win.

Should be an exciting end to a group that didn’t have many expectations.
